Two new milestones for Kobe. The first one is getting in the pool with us... in his life jacket and on a raft, but relaxed. He swam about a bit with his jacket on and he lay down on the raft comfortably, so there's some progress here. He's still not terribly interested in the pool because he has to jump in and climb out by ladder, but at least he's not afraid of being in it with us. I'm looking into getting some portable stairs so that he can get in and out by himself easily. Mostly, though.. we'll take him to the river when we're up here. There's a great park with a river nearby my mom and lots of dogs and people go there. Which brings me to the next great thing this week.
The second Kobe first this week is that his COME was rock solid yesterday. This doesn't mean it will be rock solid tomorrow, but I was very pleased. He always comes when we're just out and about by ourselves, but yesterday we were with a puppy kindergarten group in that park by the river and Kobe came when I called him. He was in the middle of playing with some puppies, but I felt he was moving too far away from me, so I called KOBE COME! and he stopped what he was doing and turned around and ran back to me. I gave him a treat and he ran back to his friends.
He also got to swim in the creek with his friends. He ran in and out for a toy and played with every dog in the park. He was about as happy as I could ever hope to be. It was a great day.
