7:00 am Kobe wakes up in his crate. I let him out and take him for a quick pee break.
7:15 am Kobe comes back in and goes over to the bed where Weldon is still sleeping. He jumps up, although he can't get up by himself yet. We lift him into the bed and we massage him and kiss him. He falls asleep. Even when we get up, he stays on the bed and naps.
8:00 am Kobe comes in and wants his breakfast. We finally settled on the food he'll be eating until he's at least a year old, Wellness for Large Breed Puppies. We mix it with another food we had considered, Evo Ancestral Diet... which is fine, except that it's all protein and that will be bad for his leg growth.. And we decide against raw diet for now.... maybe once he's a full grown dog. We mix Wellness with Evo, add some ground dried liver powder and yogurt and stuff it all into two big kongs.
10:00 am Kobe sits on the couch and I groom him with a brush and a comb. I'm feeding him lots of little treats and he likes those treats. I think grooming will continue to be easy. I feed him a raw bone, which he gnaws on for a while and then leaves. I put it back in the freezer for later.
11:45 am Weldon takes Kobe to the dog park. I tell him I'm going to meet him there and I'll jog over. I jog (only for about 10 minutes) to the park and there he is with another dog Cosmo, not really one of his favorite dogs. She's not that much of a playmate for him. We run around in the dog park for a while.
12:15 pm We decide to go over to the park across the way and play soccer and wash Kobe's face.. which is wet and muddy. We wash his face in the waterfountain and he plays a little soccer with us. Our most recent triumph is that Kobe understands and will drop a chicken bone he finds in the park. He does it again today and we give him a Kobe snack and everyone's proud and happy.
12:45pm We return home, finally. Back into the air conditioning. Kobe wants water which he tries to get from the toilet. I put the seat down and guide him to his bowl. He doesn't want to get into his crate because he thinks we'll lock him in. But I don't.
1:30 pm We feed Kobe again. He likes the Wellness so I don't mix it with the high protein one.
3:00 pm Weldon takes Kobe for a quick pee break... I think
5:40 pm I feed Kobe again. A smaller meal this time.. only one and a half large Kongs... and he gets his raw bone back.
6:15 pm I walk Kobe in the neighborhood and bring him to see Omar the doorman. He loves Omar. We meet the woman who feeds the cats. Kobe likes the cats and she likes animals, but Kobe usually does not like to go over to her. I think may be because she is battling cancer and smells different from other people. She's the only person he never wants to go near. Today, she has half a can of tuna with her. Suddenly, he's more interested in her than usual.
7:14 pm Kobe chews on his bone again. Later... I'll be taking him out at 8pm to the park to meet other dogs and play. Weldon will meet us there... and then we'll play and go home. He'll lay down under the table by the air conditioner and sleep for a while.. maybe come up on the couch. Then sometime around 9:30pm he'll go or be brought into his crate where he'll sleep until morning. In the morning we'll get ready to go up to my mom's house for 4th of July. Kobe will get to go in a pool for the first time with us.
