It finally came! Christmas finally came this year! I was so happy when I woke up on December 25th and it was Christmas morning! I was so excited to get to open up all my gifts that morning, and then later that day, at my aunt's I was going to be able to open up more gifts from my godparents.
The day when Christmas Break started, things started to get busy at my house. We were doing a LOT of baking for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That Saturday when break started, I went downstairs to say good morning to my grandma at about 9:30 in the morning, and I saw my grandma had already started baking! The cookies that my grandma had started to bake were the Rugolos. The Rugolos are made out of cinnamon, sugar, walnuts, and dough ( you have to make it). My sister Marissa ( the youngest sister) was helping my grandma by putting the mixture on top of the Rugolos, and then on the tray. When I came down, I immediately started to help. At first, I started taking the cookies off of the tray and puttiing them into the Tupperware, which was already half- way full! After t taking the cookies off of one tray, I started to help make them.
That same day, we also made the Wine cookies and these Candy Cane Sugar cookies we got the recipe out of a magazine. Two of my cousins (Alexandria and Jonathan) came over after lunch to help us bake the two cookies. When they walked in, I was in the middle of covering some kind of fish in flour and my sister, Gabriella was feeding me my lunch. If you are wondering why she was feeding me my lunch, it was because my hands were covered in flour, so if I touched my food, I would get flour that has touched fish all over it! Duh! Jonathan brought over the movie, "Evan Almighty," so we were all watching that. My mom, dad, and grandma already started to make the Wine cookies with two of my sisters (Gabriella and Marissa), while the rest of us (Alexandria, Jonathan, Alyssa and I), were watching the movie. Jonathan ended up leaving eventually as well, so he was able to help with the Wine cookies.
To make the Wine cookies, you have to make sure you have a lot of patience, because the cookies sometimes end up sticking to the table.
Hey! I just remembered something.! Alexandria, Alyssa and I never really got to help that much to make the Candy Cane Sugar cookies either! When the movie finished, they were already almost done with the first batch, and we didn't even get to help with the second batch! The only thing that we got to do was shake powder sugar on top of the cookies. Oh well! We didn't get mad about it, and we all got a piece of the candy canes that broke, and they came out delicious!
The next day, Sunday, we had to make
the Chocolate chip Cookies. (picture of chocolate chip cookies to the left). I didn't care if I didn't get to help bake them. Just as long as I got to stick my finger in the batter while they were being made, I was fine. Don't get me wrong, I mean I love getting to help bake them, but if I don't, it's fine with me. That is if I get some of the batter to eat. If I don't get to do either, that is when I get upset!
We make the chocolate chip cookies with chocolate chips, but we also make some without chocolate chips. Why would we do something like that? Well since you asked, I will tell you. Some people in our family don't like them with the chocolate chips, so that is why we make some without them. So even the people who don't like the chocolate chips in their cookie have the same type of cookie, just without the chocolate chips. I like the cookie both ways. I like them without the chocolate chips because they seem sweeter for some reason. On the other hand, I like them with the chocolate chips because it just tastes good with them in it.
Too bad Christmas only comes once a year though!
