"What just happened?" I asked. No one responded. The things we just heard and saw didn't seem to match up. The only sounds in the diner were the "normal" people of the town chattering away while eating a normal lunch at the town diner. I often envied them for growing up with a normal life not learning 27 different codded languages including Morse code and the Mayan Indian language. These people grew up learning a simple language such as Spanish or French. These people didn't have to learn to memorize all the faces at a carnival and be able to pinpoint where you saw each of them. They had the easy lives you see in movies. The lives that people like me never had.
To us, they're the story-book lives. To them, we're the hidden hero's in the story.
"What do we do? Michaels and Amanda have just been kidnapped by some big guy and David." Molly said.
"We don't know if the David he said, is the David we know. How common of a name is David Trisha?" Katrina asked.
"I can answer that." We all turned to see Abby!
"Hey Abby!" Abby had been away on a research trip in Atlantis (the real lost city) for a marine biology paper. She was all tan now.
"Hi. And the answer to that is, it's an average 48.6 graded name. mostly used by people from Judaism." Abby responded. I laughed.
"She's actually partially correct." Abby joined us and we filled her in on all that she missed. She didn't seem to think we were crazy either.
"David was in my Marine Biology class before. I remember I had to sit next to him once and when we did a lab he was always scribbling in his notes. He's a weird kid and not too many people talk to him." Abby said. I almost felt sorry for the guy. Almost.
"Well knowing that, it still doesn't prove what happened to Dean Withers and Michaels and Amanda for that matter." I said. We were all silent for a while.
"Well what if it is David. Consider that possibility." Peter said. I nodded.
"Yeah there's a great chance that he is a part of this date-napping scheme." Cole K said. I nodded. I avoided eye contact with him and remained close to Matt. It was as if by now I was hiding behind Matt from Cole K.
"Well we should probably head back. I'll write fake notes from the nurse excusing them. I still even have the note that the nurse gave me when I had mono." Trisha said. We agreed that it'd be wise to head back. Before we got busted.
"So we packed up our things and headed back to our home and school. Except we were no longer the happy bunch of friends that left just this morning. We looked like we were mourning. We might as well be. Where would they be?

"Wait! Hold it right there!!!" Trisha exclaimed at dinner. A few surrounding students turned to look at Trisha from her sudden outburst. She smiled sheepishly and when they turned their heads back around, she continued in a low voice. The guys sat with us today. I was next to Matt again. Cole K was next to Katrina.
"Well, tell us before I have a heart attack!" Molly said.
"Amanda should still have her earrings. What big oaf would be smart enough to check her earrings?" Trisha said. She was so. . . excited. Like she all of a sudden found out the cure to all types of Cancer.
"And. . ." Katrina asked.
"She means that we can track Amanda using her earrings." Abby explained. I nodded.
"that makes sense."
"It's good to have you back Abby." Julie said. We all laughed. It felt odd somehow though. Knowing that we're still laughing while Michaels and Amanda are somewhere probably locked up somewhere in this world. It was a creepy thought that made me all of a sudden loose my appetite. I was going to find Amanda one way or another.

I sat up suddenly in my bed again. It was the third time I had that dream. Both of them. The one with Cole K and the other of David. Except this time I had sort of a vision. Where Amanda and Michaels were. It was creepy. Amanda was in a very luxurious room though. She was sitting on a big queen size bed, but she looked gloomy in a way. Her eyes were a sad shade of brown.
While Michaels was in a place that seemed like a basement. It was sort of weird. He was in a completely opposite room than Amanda. The bed was just a slab of stone with a layer of hay over it. there was one window where Michaels could look out. It confused me all together and I had no idea if it was real or not. David was also in Amanda's "prison room" he was holding a soda out for her to take but she was just sitting there.
Since my head was full of so many questions, I decided that a walk would be suitable. Maybe I'd be able to run into Matt again. I didn't know if I was looking for him or not. But somehow that dream of Cole K was still getting to me and I'm needing reassurance more and more now. It was scaring me too.
"So you are here." I said when I reached the school fountain. Matt was sitting on the edge. I walked over and sat next to him. He was in flannel pants and a white T-shirt and flip-flops. He placed his arm around me and I rested my head on her shoulder. Something was off though. My heart didn't race as much as it used to.
"I have a question to ask you." I lifted my head and looked into his eyes. "You want to maybe spend the whole day together?" I laughed.
"Weird time to ask me that once Amanda and Michaels had just been kidnapped from their own date." I said. he smirked. Nope, no flipping of the stomach. No spark whenever our eyes meet. It was quickly dying down. And I was letting it.
"Well if that happens, I'll be on full alert. No way am I letting anyone get to you other than me." He said. I smiled anyway to reassure him. I stood up and straightened my shirt.
"Well, Mr Cloud. I'd love to spend the whole day with you. but I must be off. I need sleep and you do too." I said smiling half heartedly. He nodded and stood up as well. I was starting to walk off when he pulled me back and kissed me. I tried to feel any fireworks going on like when I first met him, but the kiss was dead. It was a complete dud! I pulled away from him and smiled one last time before walking away.
Man, did I need to talk to Amanda or what. I needed her help, and fast. Amanda, Michaels, where are you guys?!

When Sue walked off, I watched her leave. Then I went back to the guys dorm. I walked into my room and saw Peter typing away at his laptop. I planned on just walking by to get a last hour of sleep in.
"Well? What happened?" Peter asked still typing away without looking up from the screen. I sighed and flopped down on the couch next to him.
"I have no idea. She was acting different. This morning she was just fine and standing next to me the whole day. But just then she was distant and seemed like she really didn't want to be there. With me." I said unsure of myself.
Peter stopped typing and looked up at me for the first time since I walked in the room. "Maybe it's because of the whole Amanda and Cole thing. It's traumatized us all in a way. Maybe it was more towards her. Especially with the new found trouble of Michelle's lost memories."
I sighed. "I don't know. Maybe you're right. But it's just weird. She never acted this way before." Peter seemed to be hesitant on saying something. I nudged him and said, "If you have something to say, say it before I shake it out of you." Peter sighed.
"Maybe there's another guy. Another guy that could be causing her to second guess her feelings towards you." He said choosing his words carefully.
"You mean someone's forcing her not to get close to me?! I'll rip him apart limb from limb." Then I heard the door to Cole K's room shift slightly. My eyes narrowed suspiciously but I decided to brush it off.
"I wouldn't say force per say." He said again careful of his choice of words. "Maybe you're not the only gem in her eye. And it's confusing her so she's trying to figure things out. I'll talk to Trisha if you want." I shook my head.
"Na I don't want her to get on my case if I'm wrong. I'm heading back to bed for a little more sleep." I said. Peter nodded and returned to his typing. I glanced at Cole K's door once more and walked back into my room.

I went back to the Hyacinth dorms and searched for refuge for my head. It was all jumbled up and Michelle had a half eaten cookie for a memory rite now and Amanda was somewhere locked up in some luxurious room. I didn't feel like disturbing Molly because the last time I woke her up to ask her where she put my flip-flops, she threw an actual Webster Dictionary book at my head! She's not much of a morning person. That's when I realized I was hearing the clicks of a keyboard and the low hum of a computer. I walked towards Trisha's room and pushed open the slightly ajar door. What would you think, she's typing away at her laptop on her bed. She didn't look up from her screen.
"Well? What's wrong?" I sighed and sat on her bed next to her. "Don't pretend there's nothing wrong. Madame Query told us about the signs of stress, lying, and confusion. Next we're learning about signs of loosing one's vi-"
"Trisha, need to know basis please!" I said. She nodded.
"Sorry. So what's wrong?" I sighed heavily again.
"Everything. I'm so confused. I have no idea if I really like Matt anymore or. . ."
"Or Cole Katz?" I gasped. I looked at her like she was a fricken Houdini! "It's not that hard to notice you two. You have possible chemistry." I looked at her in amazement. how did she notice that?! "Oh come on. Don't look at me like it's so hard to believe. the rest of us knew that there was some sort of spark there." I sighed.
"Oh-k so ya. I have no idea what to do though. There's them, and Michelle, and Amanda and Michaels now!" I felt so bad i felt worse than having the flue. Trisha seemed to notice this. She sat up and put her hand on my for head.
"You're making yourself sick." I looked at her like she was crazy. "madame Query said you can cause yourself 2 stop taking care of yourself causing yourself to become sick. It's usually due to the emotional condition your in. when you feel horrible enough, you can become sick. And you are definitely starting to run a fever. Go back to bed." Trisha said. "Doctor's orders. don't worry about Michelle. I assigned Seth as her caretaker and I'm already tracking Amanda. She's still in the country." Somehow knowing that I felt a little relieved. So I got up and followed "Doctor Trisha's" orders and crawled back into bed. Sleep overcame me quickly and all worries were drowned by my conscience thinking up new dreams for me to dream.

"Hey Sue?" I heard a faint voice say. I groaned a bit. They called my name again. I slowly opened my eyes and I saw Molly staring down at me. "Hey there. How are you feeling?" I groaned again in response. "Well that's a pretty clear no. You're excused from classes today but Nurse Joy will be coming in to check up on you every once and a while so no crazy dorm parties while we're in classes oh-k?" I knew she was trying to lift my spirits. I smiled and groaned again while my stomach churned slightly. "Try to feel better. We'll visit during lunch oh-k?" I nodded my head slightly and she got up and left with Trisha, Katrina, Julie, and Abby.
I went back to sleep and woke up at around 10:30. I finally decided to get up. I went into the bathroom and took an advil. then I grabbed my MacBook and sat in the common area and started surfing the web. My head was slightly throbbing but the Advil was starting to kick in.
By the time lunch came around I was starving. As if on cue though, there was a knock at the door. Suspecting that it was the girls, I went over to the door in my bed-head and runny-nose glory. Horrible mistake. When I opened the door, I found Cole K standing in the doorway with 2 paper bags. I was shocked for a second but then realized how horrible i must look right now. So what do I do? I slam the door in his face. Real slick Sue. I rushed into the bathroom, brushed my hair, blew my nose, and tugged off my baggy sweatshirt and put on my black zip-up hoodie instead. I was wearing a white cami and my black and red flannels. Calmly I opened the door again and Cole was still standing there.
"Hey. You oh-k?" He asked as if I never slammed the door in his face only 3 minutes ago. So I played along and nodded. I moved so he could get in and I closed the door. He sat down on the couch next to where I was sitting before he knocked on the door. he handed me one of the plastic bags. I opened it and saw a roast beef sanwhich. "I figured you'd be hungry." He explained. I nodded and thanked him.
"Yeah, perfect timing." I was wondering what he was still doing here.
"You don't mind if I eat with you do you? I just thought you'd be lonely here alone. I know your frinds are supposed 2 come but I decided I'd be company for you for now. they're still in Mr S's office."
I nodded. I felt my cheeks flush slightly when he looked over at me. At weirdly enough, the butterflies that were MIA while I was with Matt in the early hours, now made a full recovery along with some friends. What was wrong with me? Maybe I really was falling for Cole K.
I was about to say something when my phone went off. I grabbed it and pressed send.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"We know where Amanda and Michaels are. Get down to the Classifieds building now." Molly's anxcious voice rang in my ear. I hung up and turned towards Cole K.
"Will you come with me?" I asked. He nodded.
"lets go!"
Amy, this was such a good chapter! I am glad that the chapter ended with them telling Sue that they know where Amanda and Michaels are. I can't wait to read the next chapter!
