What Gets the Grade?

Each weekly entry will be evaluated using the following criteria:

1) is 300 words minimum
2) has an interesting title
3) includes a category
4) uses complete sentences
5) has been spell checked and paragraphed
6) has been reread to find errors not found by spellcheck
7) shows mastery of the rules taught in class
8) uses links to sites that are appropriate and offer other sources for more information
9) pays attention to presentation and design:

• uses 12 or 14 point, simple fonts
• use of illustration is well placed and sized.
• does not have unusual gaps in text

Learning the HTML will get you there

If you want to put a picture in to illustrate an article you are writing, you have to put it in manually with html code.  Below is some code that you can cut and paste.  Of course you have to manually put in the location of your own image from your own files, but you can do it if you want.  Be careful, because some images don't blow up very well.  So be sure that the image you choose is of a high enough resolution to use. 

Some of you will find this easy to do and others will not.  If you can figure it out, or if a friend can help you, you can use  images to illustrate your writing.

Guidelines

This is a moderated blog.  Every entry and comment will be read by me before being accepted for publication. The guidelines below will insure that your entries get published

Guideline 1:  Use only first name and last initial (ex:  AudreyH) in responses.  For the purposes of this blog, only comments and entries identified as above will be published.   

Guideline 2:  Blogging is a public act and it is a part of your school instruction. This not a public blog, however it can be read by anyone that has the address. What you do and say here counts. Do not write anything in these blogs you wouldn't want your mother to see, because she just might. :)

Guideline 3: Say what you mean, but don't say it mean. No flaming or other negative response will be accepted. If you are disagree with someone else's views, back up your own views with support. It's the persuasive thing to do.

Guideline 4: Use Standard English in this blog. This is not an IM or a note to your friend. You are publishing your work and representing yourself and your group. Sloppy work online is no different than sloppy work off line.Your best efforts are appreciated and rewarded.   

Hint: Type your posts in Word, use their grammar hints and spell check (watch out for homonyms though) and then cut and paste into your blog.
