On page 51-52 the Chief Elder says,
"This is the time... when we acknowledge differences. You Elevens have spent all your years till now learning to fit in, to standardize your behavior, to curb any impulse that might set you apart from the group... But today we honor your differences. They have determined your future."
If you lived in Jonas' community and were being observed by elders over the period of time from your birth until 7th grade and they were going to you on a path toward the profession you would have for life, what sort of profession would you be slated for? Bear in mind that you must expect to do work that is meaningful to the culture of Jonas' community. Choose a profession based upon your characteristics as a person, your performance in a variety of setting, and what adults may observe you doing.
A complete answer will include
1) the job you receive, with a detailed description of the job itself.
2) three characteristics and how they are well suited for the job you receive.
3) observations that others could make of you that would make the choice a perfect fit for you.
The job that i would be assigned would be a marine biologist. I would be assigned this job because i love fish. The job is to study marine life. Trying to find new species and stuff like that. Three characteristics that make the job right for me are i have many fishtanks at my house. I am always fishing with my dad and brother. Also i love going scuba diving. Some things that people will notice is that i am always spending time caring for my fish, and like to study them.

I would either be the director of the Community or I would be a poet. I would prefer a poet, but Jonas's world is messed up, so I would be the Director Of The Community. This job would be good for me because I like to be in charge of everything or to have all of that power. It's a big responsibility and I feel that I would create a organized way to help the Community. Even though I would be the Director, I would secretly start a project to build weapons and evacuate all people so they don't die. I would destroy all of the official buildings so they can't rebuild that kind of Community again. That way I would be a mission from the actual ruler with is democracy and a world where people can buy bikes whenever they want. The Community will then be reestablished, that way I would be helping out the world by ridding this horrible system forever.
Think, can you reasonably imagine a world where there is no violence, prejudice or hatred? No, there will always be evil and wrong in the world and it's true. Some observations that others can make of me is my quiet intensity and my love for everything around me and that the world is pretty and kind to us all. Also that flowers are nice and everyone is affectionate towards nature. World Peace!!

I think I would be an engineer. I would like to design public bridges and fountains and stuff. Wouldn't it be cool to leave a legacy that will survive you for decades. Or to be able to take your kid to a world famous skyscraper and say "See that daddy designed that". I love science and think that I would not mind designing things for a living. I mean think about it many things will fade away but not your things.

For me if it was before the seventh grade than I think that they would have chosen for me to be a social worker. A social worker helps people or families when they are in crisis. A social worker would need to know how to make that person feel better and help them to also get more help like if they were a smoker or something. I always wanted to be a social worker know I am not so sue but before 7th grade that what I wanted to be. Also I go to something called a soup kitchen. There are a lot of people there and instead of having people that cant not afford food having a tray and waiting in line for food. We treat them with respect and we serve them like if they were in a restaurant. I like to go because I like to hear what people had to say about there had lives and if there was any thing that I could help them with I would and I still do. I am a very caring person many of my friends that know me know that I could be a great social worker because when ever they have a problem I help them solve it.

If I lived in Jonas's society I think I would get chosen to be a fashion designer because I have a great sense of style,I love going shopping, mainly bargain shopping,I am different, and most of all, I color outside the lines, I take risks and I have a tendency to be brutally honest. In Jonas's society the people wear like the same outfits everyday, and everyone wears matching clothes and hair ribbons. So that's where I would come in,I would still obey the rule that everyone fits in,but I would spruce up everyone's bland everyday attire. Many people have said to me that in the future I should pursue something in the fashion industry,in real life I want to be a fashion editor rather than a fashion designer. But in Jonas's society that job probably doesn't exist.OH YEAH I WANTED TO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT AN AWESOME SITE THATS CUTE AND GREAT TO WASTE TIME ON

I would receive the job of a cruise line singer. This job is simple you just go around the world witch is tons of fun knowing new places and everything you get to come off and enjoy like the people who are on the ship they get up to $1600-2900 U.S. per month that is a lot of money and it is fun. Three reasons that I would be good at this job is I love singing, I am good at it, and I can entertain people very well like singing and stuff I can do soccer tricks bring some people up to enjoy themselves that will be a lot of fun like shows of soccer and stuff I can act something out that will be fun. Well practically it’s all fun. I think other people would think that this is a perfect fit because I love singing and I just want to have fun. I admit that it would be scary if you crash or something that would be scary. Maybe I will find my jack like from the movie titanic I will be rose and maybe I will meet my jack. Well rare they are going to leave but if they really love you they will want you to come with them. So it will be soooooooooooooo much ffffffuuuuunnnnnnnn.

The job I would be appointed to is a chef because I love to cook. I cook all the time as soon as I get home I start to cook dinner. My family loves eating the food I made because they didn’t need to cook it and it’s good. The only bad part is they get to clean it up. If I was living in Jonas’s world they would probably give me like a small store to sell my food in because they don’t have any restaurants that we know of. So if I lived there that is the job that they might give me.

The job I would receive in Jonas’s community would be Director of Pets. In this job I would look after the stray and newborn pets in the community, sorta like the Nurtures job to care for the newborn children, except I would take care of the newborn pets. With the strays, I would train them to trust people if they didn’t , and make sure all the pets would go to loving , caring homes. I would get this job because I love animals and want to make sure that they are alright. I hate seeing stray pets on the streets and want to help them. The Elders would notice me using my volunteering at the Humane Society and having pets of my own. My loving and caring nature for animals would be one of the characteristics that would allow me to have this job. Another characteristic is my focus or hard work and determination toward making sure that pets will be put into good homes and to make sure that people won’t cause the death of a animal through pollution and the mistreatment of a pet or animal such as beating or starving your pet because you want to take out your emotional pain on something. One other characteristic I have for this job the fact that I have many pets and take care of them and would never think of hurting them because it’s wrong to hurt someone who doesn’t have anyone to speak up for them or can speak up for themselves. I have also stopped using products that are animal tested because they can’t speak for themselves.

The job I would recive is a veternarian. I would recive this job because I love to help animals. Veternarians treat or cure injured animals. If a wounded dog is seriously hurt, the owned would take the dog to a veternarian to get treated. This job really fits me in ways. I always love to play with animals, especially with pets (dogs, cats, birds, turtles, fish etc.). I have a dog at home named Rocko. I take care of it, I show my dog love every single day. Other people can see that im a loving, kind, generous, intelligent person. They would give me this job because of my personailty.

If they had to pick my profession they would choose a Pediatrician. A pediatrician is a doctor for children. I love children and taking care of them brings me joy. My mom always says that I should be either a teacher, pediatrician or own a daycare since I love to take care of children. So I choose a pediatrician which as to involve knowing math and science. Math is my favorite subject and I do well in it. My mom’s family has an orphanage in Nigeria and she encouraged me to adopt one. I adopted a girl named Mercy, and since then I’ve been sending money and clothes to help her through each year of school. Even though she’s older then me it makes me happy to know that someone looks up to you and loves you for everything you are doing for them. Whenever we go out to a party somewhere I always take care of the kids whose parents are to busy to watch them.
There was one day my brother cut his finger really deep against this loose metal and cut himself deep. Blood was gushing out of his finger and I hate blood so I got scared. Instead of running away I stood up and got him alcohol swabs, tissue and three bandages. The blood started to slow down so I gave my little brother some milk and cleaned him up. I felt so brave, my brother refused to go to his room to sleep because he wanted to sleep in my room. I was proud but sleepy because I had to stay up all night to hold the bandage to his finger for the cut to close up. From then on I knew I could take care of children and not get scared in the emergency room. Three words to describe me would be Caring, Gifted, and Unique.

I would like to be a Pediatrician. Pediatricians manage the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of their patients, in every stage of development - in good health or in illness.
Pediatricians focus on babies, children, adolescents, and young adults from birth to age 21 years.
I would like to take care of children when they are sick, offer good treatment when they are physically well and work with other medical specialists and healthcare professionals to provide for the health and emotional needs of children.
My friends and family members all feel that i would make a wonderful, hard working pediatrician because I work well with children and I have patience of a saint.

The job that I would recieve from the community would be a photographer. I would take photographs of all different objects. For example, flowers, weddings and other happy memories. Three characteristics well suited for the recieved job are patience, focus and stillness. From other people's observations they would say that this job is the perfect fit for me because they always see me taking photographs. Also, they see me makeing money of the pictures that I took.

The job that I would be assigned would be the leader of the Animal Rights coalition. With this job you must be able to take care and nurturer poor little animals back to health and set them up for Animal Protectors which will save them from being put to sleep and give them homes until they are adopted. This job requires you to be patient with the growth of animals from little birds to deer and know how to diagnose their problems with no problem at all. Caring is the next quality because you can’t just feed a baby kitten a full bottle of milk without testing it on human skin to see if it won’t burn their little tongues and you must give the animals everything that they require like a big pillow if their legs are broken and therapy if they don’t interact with other organisms. The final quality is just being happy because when you take care of your little animal and when they are well again, you feel something inside of you that makes you feel sort of fuzzy and happy, most of the time that is what people think when they have done a good deed.
The observations that people that people make are that I am always feeding little woodland creatures like rabbits some skinned carrots and giving my cat a treat when he learned to turn on the T.V in my room. One time I found a dog wandering the streets a month ago and there was a collar on it and he was in the streets for 45 minutes! When I returned it to the owner it turns out that the owner left the front door open when she was taking a shower and this dog is used to living inside not out.

the job that i would be assigned would be a doctor. A doctor helps people recover from their sickness and injuries. The three characteristics that would make the job good for me are that I’m caring, patient, and positive person. Observations that others could make me that would make the choice a perfect fit for me is that if one of my friends gets hurt i try to help them, and i try to keep them happy so they don’t feel sick or to try to help them forget about their pain.

The job that i would choose is a doctor because they help other people for a living. They dont just care about them selves they spend there days heeling people and cureing them from their sicknesses. Three characteristics are careing, unselfish and brave. I don't really know why i chose this job because when im hurt i dont even really notice it but i would rather heel myself than go to a doctor because i like doing things myself. I think i would do this job because most of the time when i am hurt i would know what to do.

I think a job that would suit me would be a photographer. A photographer, in my words, can see something completely ordinary and make it look beautiful. I think I have that talent. Besides drawing, I love taking pictures of everything; flowers, animals, people etc. My parents and my grandma say I have a skill that allows me to see beauty in something as small as an ant. Even when I was little, you would catch me snapping pictures of animals and plants. I've always had an interest for it.
I am artistic, I think this is a skill that you should have to be a photographer. Photography isn't just taking pictures of random objects, its actually feeling the emotions in the picture. I think another characteristic is that you have to be adventurous. I would move all over the world to take pictures of people and there surroundings. Another characteristic I think you should have is a passion for it. You have to stay focused on what your doing or else you may loose interest. I would think it would be frustrating as well because you are pretty much riling on what other people think of your work and if they don't like it you have to figure out another way to support yourself.
