giants "pats" final

The Giants have had a tough season so far.  But, as tough as it has been, they made it into the playoffs. They are safe.
The giants have overcome a lot of bad injuries such as Mathias Kiwanuka; he broke his leg while tackling the ball carrier. Jeremy Shockey also broke his leg. These are two very important players on the team.  Even after going through all of that they are facing the toughest game of their season if not their lives.
So you might say, why is this game so important when the Giants are already in the playoffs? They are facing the New England Patriots who have gone undefeated so far this year.  This is the last game of the regular season.   No team has gone undefeated since the Miami Dolphins did it in 1972.
Now Eli and his squad have to play the New England Patriots Saturday at 8pm. The New England Patriot fans will be really loud and try to shake the Giants.  Some even think the Giants, because they are already in the playoffs won’t use their best guys and risk further injuries. This is a very important game to many.
But I really believe that the Giants will come on the field, with their best players ready to fight hard and win.  The Giants will be the team that we have come to love and respect.  They will not “fake” this game, and be safe.
The emotions that this team has shown throughout the season have been amazing and I believe that they will bring these same emotions to New England on Saturday night.  They will rise above the screaming “Pats” fans and if not win this game, give it the best fight that they have. All of their hard work will have paid off in the long run.  I’ve got the Giants Saturday night, and I’m even praying for snow!

Patrick White was 10 for 19, zero interceptions 176 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 150 yards. Noel Devine had 13 rushing attempts and got 108 yards. Darius Raynaud had 1 rushing attempt and got 30 yards he also had 5 receptions for 42 yards. Owen Schmitt had 3 rushes for 63 yards. Tito Gonzales had 1 reception for 79 yards.        The run that got things going for West Virginia was Schmitt’s 57-yard scamper with 6:29 left in the second quarter that opened up the Mountaineers’ lead to 13-3. West Virginia got another TD with 2:27 left in the first half when White hooked up with Darius Reynaud on a 21-yard score.                                                                                                                                                                                                  WVU led the Sooners 20-6 in the first half and could have had three more if not for Pat McAfee’s 42-yard field goal attempt that was blocked at the end of the half. It was White’s passing, especially down the field that helped them win. White’s biggest pass play of the game came in the fourth quarter after Oklahoma had pulled to within 13, 34-21. White faked a reverse and flipped a pretty pass down the seam to Tito Gonzales, who broke free for a 79-yard touchdown. It was the longest pass play in bowl history for the Mountaineers. Four minutes later, West Virginia also got the longest TD run in its bowl history when Devine took a toss sweep, slipped a pair of tackles, and broke free for a 65-yard run. West Virginia has now won bowl games and will finish ranked in the Top 10 for three straight years – a first in program history. It was also the third straight BCS bowl game victory for the Big East Conference – West Virginia in the 2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl Louisville in the 2007 Orange Bowl and West Virginia again in the 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

heisman award final

Owen James

The Heisman award is a very special award for a very special player. The one who won this award was a sophomore who goes by the name of Tim Tebow. Tim is a QB for the Florida Gators. He is not only very good at passing the ball but he can run like he is one of the running backs and he is not afraid when he is running with the ball. The finalists for the award were RB Daren McFadden, Missouri QB Chase Daniel, Hawaii QB Colt Brennan and Smith Quinn. It really seemed like either Chase Daniel or Daren McFadden for the award. Sometimes this award could be just a personality contest. This was not the case because later when people looked at Tim’s records and stats they saw that he obviously was the one who was destine to win the Heisman. The other four guys knew that they were the ones who lost but they still are playing very good and not even worrying about that award. They are all happy just knowing that they had what it would take to even be up for the award. In conclusion Tim Tebow won the award the others left disappointed.

Arguements for the BCS bowl standings final

First of all The BCS is a system that was created in 1998 to  make sure that the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in college football would always play each other for the national championship. The BCS itself has brought controversy, but it has removed some by eliminating the scenario in which the clear-cut top two teams play in different bowl games, leaving voters to decide the champion if they both win.

The reason something like the BCS was needed in college football is that the system for choosing teams for bowl games was based more on conferences and not rankings. The champion of the Big Ten would always play the champion of the Pac-10 in the Rose Bowl. The champion of the Southeastern Conference would always play in the Sugar Bowl, and so on.

But if the top two teams in the country were from the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference, they would be forced to play in separate bowl games, and determining a single national champion became difficult. Or impossible -- the year before the BCS came into existence, 1997, saw Big Ten champion Michigan and Big 12 champion Nebraska split the national championship because both were undefeated and both won their respective bowl games, the Rose Bowl and the Orange Bowl.

Most people believe that it should be Oklahoma University and LSU because Ohio State had such a horribly easy schedule. Also OSU beat the number 1 team Missouri. I believe it should be Hawaii and LSU because Hawaii is the only unbeaten team in the NCAA

300 word essay final

Owen James

The Yankees have a deal going with the Twins of Minnesota for the great Johan Santana. Johan is a pitcher and he has cy Young award potential! This award is given to a pitcher who has made amazing effort and who has great stats.

The pitchers in NY would be very excited if he was in the rotation because they know he is a winner and it would take the pressure off a roster who
has been struggling in the last season.

The Yankees are going to give the Twins the pitcher Phil Hughes, centerfielder Melky Cabrera,  and even 100 million dollars. The twins understand that they would receive a great young pitcher and a very talented outfielder indeed.

Johan Santana just might be what this team really needs to get further in the post season. Recently, when the Yanks got to the playoffs, they ended up losing a lot of games and the whole team practically fell apart. Several of our pitchers end up getting injured.

Johan is very good at striking people out. He fools a lot of teams with his change up because it comes in slow but falls very fast. This season he had 230 strikeouts. He went for a record of 15 wins and 13 losses. He ended up with a 3.33 earned run average. That is very low.

These stats will probably win him the award that they call the Sy Young award. The other people who are in the race for the award are Josh Beckett and Chin-Ming Wang of the Yankees.

Now that Alex Rodriguez is back on the team the manager Joe Girardi knows that he will have a nice smooth season if Santana decides to join the team. Almost all of the Yankees fans would go wild if he joins the squad. We all know he is just what we need.

the giants final

Owen James                                 12/2/07

The Giants used to be a very unorganized team and their players had many injuries. Last year a very special person to the team left. His name was Tiki Barber, the former running back for the Giants. He left during the best time of his career. He had at least 100 yards or more rushing a game. He was an inspiration to a lot of people. Now that he is gone he will be remembered as one of the best running backs for the NY Giants.
So now that he is gone we have a new outstanding running back who’s name is Brandon Jacobs. He is very strong and he practically runs over a guy if he is in his path to the end zone.
We also have a great QB.  His name is Eli Manning. Last football season, many said he wasn’t playing up to his potential. He was throwing many interceptions and he was getting sacked when he tried to run with the ball.
Everyone else who is on the team is stepping up and showing amazing defensive and offensive abilities. This week we will be facing the Chicago Bears. They have a fierce defense but the offense is not as good. In my opinion, the giants are back on track!  Go Giants!

My Life and other Football Teams Final

I did my essay on my life and the football team the Cowboys. When I was young  I  I loved the football team the Dallas Cowboys. I was a Cowboy fan is because my uncle and my dad grew up as Cowboy fans so they wanted my brother and I to be Cowboy fans and we were. My brother stayed a Cowboy fan but me when I was 6 years old I told my cousin Dan that I was a Cowboy fan and he was like Matt don't be a Cowboy fan and I was like why not and he said because you have to like the San Fransisco 49er fan and I was okay but only since you are and he said alright.

So the next day the Cowboys were playing and my dad asked me if I wanted to watch the game  and I said no I'm a 49er fan. After I told him he got so mad he didn't talk to me for a week so I stopped being a 49er fan. The next season I liked the Eagles and my dad's anger got stronger. When the Eagles lost the SuperBowl I didn't like them anymore. The season after that I liked  the Colts but they didn't do that good . My life is crazy when it comes to football and there is more teams.

The year after that I liked the Stealers after but after they won the SuperBowl I moved on. The season after that I liked 2 teams the Patriots and the Colts and this year my Colts won the SuperBowl. Now this season I'm back to liking the Cowboys and it is gonna stay like that for a while. The reson I'm gonna stay a Cowboys fan is because this year they are a really good team and they have 3 of my favorite players Tony Romo-QB, Terrel Owens-WR, and Marian Barber-RB. The reason they are my favorite players is because they are all really good.
