The 8th grade is going great! I love all my teachers! Mrs. Bavosa Reminds me of you, in the way that you were always giving me a challenge to uphold and conquer. And life has been good. I'm still writing. I've been finding it a little hard though to stay off of the bloody stuff. But as I once heard "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" so I guess that it could also apply to this as well.

I think that the friendship between Antonia and Jim in the story “My Antonia” is like the friendship between Soo-Hyung in the story of “Once Around Manhattan” for many reasons.

One of the reasons I think that is because all of these characters are either emigrants from other countries or their parents and grandparents are. They both have trials in their stories that they all have to go through. Theses stories have many things in common and a lot of things that are different.

In the story "Once Around Manhattan", Gina and Soo-Hyung have to canoe 32 miles because they are both in the "Challenge Club" and they are the only girls. As they are paddling, Gina spots a place where she and her grandmother used to picnic and it brings back a lot of memories. During this time, they fall behind and they have to try hard and paddle against the current to get to where they are. As they get closer and closer, they see the Statue of Liberty, and that causes inspiration and they realize that that was where the immigrants came before coming into America.

In the story "My Antonia" Jim and Antonia live in the Midwest where it becomes really hot in the summer and they grow corn. Everyday they are busy doing different things. Working in the kitchen, in the garden, in the fields, ect. One night, there was a thunderstorm and Antonia and Jim went out to watch it. After they watched it go by, Jim said something very important to her. He said why aren't you like this all the time. And she basically said because I am different from you and Things will be easy for you. But they will not be easy for us. I think that these 2 stories are alike because they both show 2 characters building a lasting bond of friendship.

Final Essay

The friendship between Jim and Antonia is a extremely interesting one. They each seem to have this quality that binds them. They are kindred spirits. Destined to be friends. They are inseparable. They are like ying and yang actually. They have their minor differences but that doesn't mean a thing. The bond is an unbreakable one

Now for Gina and Soo-Hyoung. They are again kindred spirits. But in a different way then Jim and Antonia. Gina and Soo-Hyoung are more different then the same. But their differences are what keeps them together. The differences between anything is usually keeps them together. Take the time when they weren't talking. It was because they liked two different baseball teams. They soon realize that it was dumb for them to argue on such a simple matter.

But now that I've given the specifics on the two friends, it's time to elaborate on the comparisons between the two. You see both friends have differences in attitude. Gina & Anonia have a more "live life to the fullist" way of thought. As to Jim and Soo-Hyoungs cautious and careful way of thought. But these differences between the friends are what makes the stories more interesting. The differences make the charicters have a more of a personality. It brings them to life. In conclusion ladies and gents, the friends show signs of slight compotition but it leads to a better way of knowing the other person.

In the passage my Antonia her and Jim have similar relationships because they both like to do the same exact thing. Such as planting crops and running through the corn fields. In ways she wished she could become a guy.

Jim was working there with one of the far families for a while. They both like seeing electrical and thunder and lightning storms. Sometimes they sneak out onto the roof and watch as the sky lights up as it was day. Jim loves it when she acts like herself because he thinks that she is way cooler. I would say that people are way cooler when they act like themselves because they aren’t showing off and being fake. In this story it pretty much touches on the fact that people have to act the way they usually do. They also try to make a girl from a farm that loves to do guy things, as well as act like one and want to be one.

The mage Chapter 3

They all walked off to the large house on the highest hill in the village. The sisters then asked “Why are you always so angry?” “Why do you ask?” Francis replied with another question. “We ask because you are always angry and we want to know why you are.” Answered the sisters. “I am because it’s my fault that I have no real father. You have a real father. I hate him and your mother. I don’t count her as my mother any longer. She married again. She went against the council and my wishes. But she “loves” him. Ha. She makes me laugh. Love. She has no idea what the meaning of the word is.” Said Francis, the sisters had tears swelling up in their eyes. They each burst into a rage of emotions. Side tracking from the story again.

When Francis and the sisters have an emotional moment their elements come into play. Of course this means chaos. Earth being ripped up from the ground, water over flowing from the rivers and lakes, and tornadoes beginning to form. *Back to the story* Francis realized he had to do something and something fast. This is what he loved to do. He casted a spell. His favorite spell. A spell which called upon the book. The book was filled of an ancient text. He read the book and the chaos that the sisters had been causing ended. Their powers put into the book and to be left there until auntie Hill’s house was reached.

“How many fricken times do I have to tell you people! You can’t get emotional! Do you want me to have to take your powers for myself?” “You know auntie Hill isn’t going to be happy about this. You may just lose your powers. They began to cry again. Francis evaporated their tear ducks. “Enough!” Francis exclaimed. The sisters feared the loss of their powers. And the loss of their brother. They knew his anger was taking over.

The Mage chapter 2

Now we are skipping up a few years. Well actually 12 years into the future. Francis, now wanting to be called Frank is still the greatest magical being in existence. He is immortally youthful. He can’t be hurt. He’ll never look older then the age of 13. He is so powerful he can destroy the planet with a crack of his pinky knuckle. He actually almost did actually he was having a nightmare. He was dreaming of the day he killed his father. The day he became who he is today.

“You have to go to Auntie Hill’s today.” Said Teresa Francis’s mom. “Aw! Do I have to?!” asked Francis, “Yes you do.” Said Teresa. Francis walked off with an angry pace. “Where are you going?” Asked, Jessica, Francis’s sister, “To Auntie Hill’s.” Replied Francis. “Can we come?” asked Francis’s 3 sisters, Jessica, Pauline, & Therese. “I don’t know. Why do you even want to come anyway?” answered Francis. “We want to because Auntie Hill is the most powerful Witch in the universe.” Said the three sisters.

They were also Witches. They were just like Francis. The most powerful of their kind. But they really weren’t witches. They were the “Casters” as the prophecy I was telling you about called them. Together they were unstoppable. They were the Aura. A magical word that was used only to describe their magical power. They are united forever. They share a bond. A magical rope that keeps them together.

The rope isn’t like that crap that they usually give you in a crappy magic book. This is something that is visible, touchable, and most importantly it hurts. Every time the Shadow enters their realm they get a sharp burning pain on the mark. Oh yea I didn’t give you all the details. The mark is on their wrists and it’s in the shape of a diamond. The 2d one not the one on your mom’s ring finger.

When their wrists touch the elements become theirs to control. Francis is mastering fire, Jess is getting Earth, Pauline is getting water, and Therese gets wind. The elements also control their emotions. That’s why Francis has such a ferocious temper. He has a lot of rage. He controls it most of the time, but from time to time he loses it and kills a person. He can’t help it. He blames his mother’s new husband for it. He blames him because he’s the reason Francis has 3 sisters. If he didn’t he would be mastering all the elements. But he has sisters. And he loves them all. They’re inseparable.

Ok. Remember that “Shadow” thing I was telling you about? Well you probably got the image of a Tall Shadow like character.  If so you were 100% WRONG!!!!! It’s the palest thing you will ever see. He’s so pale he stands out in the snow. He makes milk look like it’s a black crayon. He is also pure evil. He’s so evil he makes the scars on their wrists burn. Not the little burn you get from smoke. The burn you get from the FIRE’S OF HELL . Well he’s my cousin.

I hate him so much. He’s 250,000 years younger than me. Oh by the way for all of you who started reading from the second chapter… GO BACK AND READ THE FIRST SO YOU KNOW WHAT I’m TALKING ABOUT! But enough about the outside story for a little bit and lets get back to the real thing….

“Ok, Ok. You can come. You were going to need to come and practice any way.” Said Francis, “YAY!!!” Exclaimed the sisters.

the mage chapter one

In a place where there was electricity before Edison’s grandparents were born and people were so magical they learned to float before they learned to walk. But every century there was one boy born that was destined to be the most magical being ever. But the prophecy hadn’t been fulfilled. The prophecy was made 600,000 years ago. It was now 700,000. And the prophecy was about to be fulfilled by a boy named Francis Xavier Roselli. He is now 3 days old and he can say and use spells that the most advanced mages can cast.

He is about to have his mage ship test.  His father is his opponent.  His father is the most powerful mage (besides Francis). Francis can’t walk yet but he floats just like his father. His mother is terrified. She’s worried. Not that she’ll lose her baby boy. That she’ll lose her husband. But this is what needs to be done. She has no opinion in the matter. Not even Francis’s father has a say. It’s all up to the “Council of Really Old People”. COROP for short.  The match was about to begin when I left to bring you there.  Now let’s go.

Slowly Francis and his father floated onto the arena with the traditional shawl on. The shawl represented the family’s level of magical power. The different colors of the shawls represented the levels. They took their places on each left corner in the ring. The ring was then covered in a protective spell that kept the audience safe. Francis had a toothless grin on, his father on the other hand looked very focused. The bell rang. The match started. Francis’s father cast a dis-arming spell. Francis dodged it. Francis laughed. A bolt of lightning appeared out of nowhere.

The bolt hit Francis’s father at an alarming speed. It was so fast and powerful it knocked him off balance (inferring to Francis’s father).  He stood up. Since this was his first time standing without floating he had a little bit of trouble. He then tried to float. It didn’t work. He tried harder. It still didn’t work. He tried casting a spell that didn’t work either. He was left magic less. That’s when it hit him. He realized that Francis had conjured a power draining spell. Francis now had his own powers and his fathers. He was unstoppable. This is where things got interesting. Francis made a fist and punched the air.

A huge amount of wind came and knocked his father onto the ground. He then giggled. If his laughs were bad just imagine what the giggles did. They created a ball of pure energy. Francis launched this at his father. It hit him dead in the chest. No blood was spilt. No pain received. The ball of energy stopped his father’s heart. Francis’s mother screamed in agony. She ran into the force field. She was so angry she didn’t need people to open the field up. She used her own powers to do it.

She shattered the field with a snap of her fingers. She ran to her baby boy first. So scared was she. She hugged him tight. She asked that her husband be buried in the field and the arena named after him. Her wishes fulfilled. And the deed was done. Francis was now the leader of the clan Roselli. He was now 4 days old and had no father. He from that day on lead a life of great magic. I shall continue with his life story in the following chapter. WAIT!!!! I never told you who I am. I am…. I am…. I usually don’t tell people this but I’m death. The grim reaper. The collector of souls. Well bye-bye.
