Vandara is a vicous and angry women. To the women she is respected, but also feared. A person who is feared can be respected because Vandara is like a leader to the women and the women listen to her and what she has to say.
The women sometimes don't agree with the way Vandara treat Kira. When Kira's mother dies Vandara wants her land. She wants Kira to leave and to have her land for herself. Just because Kira has no family left doesn't mean that Vandara can push Kira around. This shows that Kira and her family are not respected by Vandara. Vandara takes her case to the Council of Guardians just for a piece of land. Kira is being treated poorly and that is not fair.
Vandara always tells Kira that she is worthless because of her bad leg. Kira can be helpful and she is a good person. The Council says if she can't work that she needs to leave which means that they agree with Vandara. The Council want people who can do work and not waste time.
The Council of Guardians will send Kira away if she is usless and can't do anything for the village, which is what Vandara wants. Sometime Vandara is a good and bad leader. She treats the villagers badly and as if they are not on the same level as her. She should treat the villagers because they are as equal as she is. To herself she is the boss and not the Council of Guardians.
Vandara is the antagonist of this story. She believes she is the boss. She is feared by all, except for the Council of Guardian, and sometimes is respected.
